On 12/16/07, the town of Cheshire, CT is lighting luminaras in memory of the Petit family, who was recently murdered in their home. Mrs Petit had MS, and her two daughters were active fundraisers and supporters of MS research. Dr Petit, their father, survived the attack with severe injuries.
You can read more about their story on my local new stations' website, www.nbc30.com
I'd love to see if anyone on DS would like to light a luminara on 12/16/07, to remember this brave family touched by MS, who has in turn through their tragedy touched all of Connecticut and our local MS chapter, and then possible post a note to be forwarded to Dr. Petit, who has just now started to return to the public after his ordeal.
I am considering trying to do my own little fundraiser to contribute to the Petit Family Foundation, managed by a bank in Hartford. I will post more details if I get my neighborhood luminara fundraiser off the ground, anyone who might be interested in joining, feel free to message me. Thanks so much.
