Hi, I was reading all the discussions and alot are medical advice. That could be dangerous someone giving the wrong advice. I just wondered why people do not ask there doctors. I know you can't always get there but in Toronto we have a nurse that answers questions it's called telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000. I was just curious, I love this website it is great support but for medical stuff no offense I would not take the advice. Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

You are responsible for your own health. I never go to an appt without having a list of questions to ask him. I am well researched on this MS.
If you have a "young" doc, graduated since 1990, he will have an idea what MS is. If your doc graduated before then, you know more than he does.
Never take anyones advice without doing your own research.
I've learned a few things in the last 11 years...I now have an excllent Dr but when it comes to MS dr's are rarely more than a prescription pad...like Kelly said we are responsible for our own health ....do consider what you read though...the prisoners will tell you what jail is like better then the guards will.
You live in Canada a place where health care is a different animal all together. For me I will never give up research and I do know more than my doctors. I have recruited two or three doctors I will be working with in the area that I live but I had to fly to Atlanta to get treatment and my diagnosis took many twists and turns. I knew my illness was of a sudden onset after I had a biopsy clip placed in my breast made of stainless steel/nickel (I was highly allergic to nickel). It took me five years but I was finally diagnosed with mold in my breast caused by the procedure or the metal. If I had listened to my doctors I would have given up a long time ago. And not many doctors know about biotoxin disease including doctors in Canada but it is a multi-symptom, multi-system disease and I ended up with Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency among many other symptoms. Biotoxin disease also mimics MS. If we had decent research in this country we might find its the cause but that wont happen because the pharmaceutical and insurance companies are too powerful. Just look at the cover up happening now with the mercury poisoning epidemic also called Autism. Here in the USA our health care system and those who regulate it are corrupt and even if doctors wanted to think out of the box they face the possibility of getting their license pulled. Pain management and pain medication policy is a joke with doctors running scared of being prosecuted by a DEA that is only concerned with keeping power and their jobs. If you think Im being too political you have a right to your opinion but I think I will do everything to fight this corruption. And I will continue to educate the doctors who are willing to listen. Do you know testing for a biotoxin illness only takes five minutes and it is a test that is standing up in court over and over again?
In conclusion as a former federal auditor I have seen first hand what happens when corruption dictates our health care policy. If you believe everything a doctor tells you without doing your own research I feel sorry for you.
that's all i have to say on this matter
if i had only asked my dr.s do i have m.s. and not people who have been living with this disease i still wouldn't know what was wrong with me and still wouldn't be fighting it
but i have considered making tshirts that say- M.D. does not spell God-
LOL
