for me lately eating or drinking is a challenge. I choke and cough on food. With the holidays coming up and I am looking forward to seeing
my dadinlaw and having his cooking(best cook in the world). But the whole family is gonna be there, and they have not had the pleasure of dining with me lately. I use plastic plates and utensils and cups as I shake and drop things now the choking....I feel like this is just to much for a big family meal. But I don't want to skip either. How do I get over the oh she is the sick one in the family and the pity and enjoy my family?
Ok I am done venting. But does anyone else feel like that......

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Google mechanical diet & you should get lots of info. Basically it is food that is pureed to a mashed potato consistency.
1. Maintain an upright seating position while eating
2.Take small bites - 1/2 - 1 teaspoon at a time
3.Eat slowly
4.Do not mix solid foods & liquids in the same mouthful.
When you eat - EAT. Don't talk & try to eat at the same time.
Good Luck and God Bless - Rana'
Eat and drink very slowly and cut your food into tiny bites. Chew, chew, chew before shallowing. This seems to help me.
him about this also...

I realize it would be best if the family could know and you could just relax and be yourself, but we all know how family can be. You don't want to be hovered over and made to feel uncomfortable. Look at supermodels, they "pretend" to eat all the time, and none are the wiser.. lol
