Can I go somewhere to get my weekly injection?

deleted_user
Hi all! I am too scared to self inject. Panic, anxiety, freeze up and just can't go through with it. Currently, my husband does my weekly injections. I also have a friend who knows how, but she has moved and isn't close by. Honestly, I am not sure how much longer my H and I will be together, we may be separated soon. And I will be honest, one of my MAIN reasons for staying as long as I did is that he does my injection. Wow, talk about fear.
Anyway, does anyone here know where I could go once a week? Would it be covered at my doctors office, or how about the Minute Clinic at CVS? Or one of those emergency med centers where you just walk in?
I know the real answer is to try and get over my fear and just do it myself. But until that day comes, WHAT DO I DO???

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...

I agree with Texas, call Avonex and seek advice and if they can send a nurse out to help you with this.
If you can find a way to mind over matter on this I think you'll find it will help you in many more ways than just the shot.
You can do this, I have faith in that. Take control, and see how good it can feel to take a jab at that damn MS!
Good luck my friend!

SOOOOOOOO I had my friend do the injection again while I video taped it. The video tape is great because I can hear my reaction to the shot...all I said was "wow, that didn't hurt at all". I'm hoping if I watch this video every day until injection day I may be more familiar with that needle going into my body. I'll let you know if this works! hahah Pray that it will! :-)
Not trying to be mean here, but run your thoughts in this direction. It's your MS, not your friends. You are the one that has to fight this. Doing an injection is doing your part to fight this thing.
Plan something to celebrate giving yourself your shot. Wouldn't it be more fun to enjoy a pizza with your friend instead of a shot? Rent a movie, something the two of you enjoy.
Come on, you can do it! Ask your friend to agree to not help you with your shot, just encourage you to do it yourself. Set a time limit, and have her help you stick to it.
PS:: You guys are real troopers who do it yourselves. I think that's amazing.
Where do you guys inject ??
I think you may want to call your insurance company to see if they will cover this!
