Hi, everybody. I'm new to the world of forums, so I'm not sure how to go about this, but I thought this forum might be an okay place to begin.
Here's my question: Does anybody have experience with adapted vehicles for MS victims who will be passenger only? In particular, I wonder if anybody is familiar with the Bruno lift-up power mobility seat for the Toyota Sienna.
The question arises because our old station wagon just died, and we're looking for some new vehicle that would have lots of cargo space (for scooter, luggage, etc.) but that I can get into (which, because of leg weakness and spasticity, I can't if the vehicle is high off the ground, as SUVs and minivans are). We've tried to find a new station wagon, but for various reasons none of the ones currently on the market is quite right for us. From what I've read, the Bruno/Sienna combination indicated above looks like a great solution: Sleek modern minivan with an electric passenger seat that rotates out and down to the ground so that the handicapped person can sit on it and then be electrically hoisted and rotated into a normal position in the car. Amazing. But my wife is hesitant for us to make the investment unless we can get feedback from real people with real experience.
Punch line: Is anybody here familiar with this device? If not, do you have any suggestions about where else I might look for the info I'm seeking--perhaps forums somewhere else in cyberspace?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
