Multiple Personalities Support Group
Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior, and there is also some associated memory loss,...

In the Autism Spectrum Community, the people came up with a name for persons not belonging to their community: "Neurotypicals", or "NT's".
This was a way to avoid using the word, "normal," but to distinguish those with different brain structures & functioning from those with Autistic-type brain structures & functioning.
Perhaps we would do well to do the same.
Our disorder is seen as so much "craziness" and is confused with schizophrenia, because people think in terms of our brains being "split". Our brains are NOT split. They are intact. All that happens is that we switch from one PERSONALITY (a congruent section of our brains exhibiting a consistent & long-term unified pattern of behaviors) to another PERSONALITY; when triggered to do so, either by internal stimuli (hormones, chemicals, decisions) or external stimuli (sights, smells, situations).
What if we developed a name for those who do NOT dissociate as easily, in contrast to ourselves? One that would clarify what happens in our brains?
We: change segments of brain function
We: adapt quickly to changing situations
We: utilize different sequential portions of our brains.
What if others were considered:
Single Segmenters?: Those who consistently used one segment of their brains to create their personalities.
Consistent Adapters? Even better: the idea of consistency in personality adaptation, as opposed to changing.
CPA's: Consistent Personality Adapters: our version of Neurotypicals.
We are "Multiple Personality Adapters"; others are "Consistent Personality Adapters".
It eliminates the "Disorder" aspect: after all, many multiples are functioning WELL, WITHOUT THERAPY, because their adaptation WORKS. Psychiatrists & therapists only see us if the adaptation breaks down!!! Just like persons with Asperger's Syndrome who function just fine.
Please print this & take it to your Psychiatrists, Psychologists, & Therapists.
See if we can make headway in developing a new diagnostic label!
"People with severe childhood abuse over time develop a coping mechanism known as:"
"MULTIPLE PERSONALITY ADAPTATION SYNDROME" or
"DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY ADAPTATION SYNDROME"
Others in society are, then,
CONSISTENT PERSONALITY ADAPTERS.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
if others in society are who we're supposed to learn how to interact with, then I guess we need our CPA degree.
Just a thought
