Is there such a thing as a condition that is in between Plasmacytoma and Multiple Myeloma? my father has cancerous plasma cells partialy covering 3 vertebrai of his spine. They first classified it as Multiple Myeloma and were going to treat him with Chemotherapy, Now the Oncologist said that he consulted with Doctors at the University of Arkansas and they are recommending to treat it as a case of Plasmacytoma and to use radiation.
I am happy that the prognosis is less severe, but has anyone ever heard of such a case? Thank You!

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
1) Plasmacytomas are tumors composed of plasma cells of which are histologically identical to those seen in multiple myeloma
2) IF THEY OCCUR IN BONE AND THERE IS ONLY ONE SOLITARY LESION they are designated as: solitary plasmacytoma of bone.
3) IF THEY ARISE OUTSIDE OF THE BONE in soft tissues they are called extramedullary plasmacytoma 4) Why some patients develop MM and others plasmacytoma is not understood
5) The diagnosis of solitary plasmacytoma of bone requires the following (and can be distinguished from MM by the following:)
evidence of a plasma cell tumor involving bone.
Complete skeletal xray must show no other lytic lesions (unlike with MM), Bone marrow aspirate and biopsy must contain no evidence for MM. There is NO anemia, hypercalcemia, or renal insufficiency
Hope that helps
