My wife is on her second bladder infection involving MRSA. She has a superpubic catheter.
This time they put her on oral Zyvox but after 3 days has lost control of her bowels and stopped the med after 4 days.
I recently had hernia repairs performed, the inguinal has healed good. However the umbilical repair became reddened. My doctor treated with diflucan, and it appear to improve. A couple days after completeing the med the redness returned. he put me back on diflucan,(this was a Monday)on Tuesday my Navel had swollen and a clear yellow discharge was noticed so I called the Doctor, He said not to worry he would see me on Friday, and give the diflucan time to work.
On Friday he was shocked, said my navel was necrotizing and cut the area out.
Started going to wound care clinic for the new wound. A week later the site looks bad. Wound care doctor thought I had started to herniate again, went back to doctor, he stated it was a ???? granuloma and cut it out. By Sunday a granuloma had regrown, I had a cloudy yellow discarge and I had a lot of pain so I called the doctor. He ended up having to remove the hernia repair patch, stitching the hernia closed, and removed an area 1.6 cm x 3.8 cm x 2.5 cm deep.
After coming home from the hospital, the wound care center tells me the culture they did the Friday before surgery was positive for MRSA.
I am on clindamycin now.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
has just blown the problems out of proportion. You need to find someone who knows what they are doing. I finally had to go to San Francisco, from Modesto, to
save my life.
I think there isn't enough docs out there that truly understand MRSA and its affects on you even after it has gone dormant for a while.Keep trying to get a new doc, I am on my 3rd, it is worth it to keep looking and travel ( even with no cash ) to get real help.
I am sorry that another person has to deal with this, and I hope you and your wife can feel better soon and find the right help.
