my son is 21 months now, when he was 15 mo he woke up with a high fever that progressively got worse through out the day. about noon i was changing his diaper and he was in excruciating pain, then i noticed his lymph-nodes were huge!!!(im talking sticking out of his groin area about the size of his fists). this alarmed me, as it would anybody, not just the size but how rapidly it had appeared. i ended up taking him to the er with his fever rising to 103.4 at this point.we waited in the er forever while waiting for blood tests, when they came back his white blood cell count was 21. they also identified a small pimple the said was staph. they admitted him, and gave him fluids and clyndamyican over a period of 4 days. they sent us home with antibiotics and within 3 days his lymph node was twice the size it was when we took him in. we returned to the er, and was admitted for another 4 days, this time they gave him vencamyacine and zocin alternating every so often. this seemed to help reduce the lymph node(some),but the spot didnt seem to go away. they sent us home again with more antibiotics, and a follow up appointment. the lymph-node continued to go down and the spot eventually went away. the follow up went good, we didnt have to drain his lymph-nodes. we finished the meds and the lymph node never completely disappeared the smallest it has been is about the size if a pinto bean.he also frequently has "outbreaks" in his diaper area. he just gets these pimple looking things that probably last a week or so. i have shown drs and they show no concern( i dont have a regular dr. it is a different person every time i go) does this sound like a colonization of mrsa? if so what precautions do i need to take for my son? sorry this ended up being longer than i expected!!
