Needing a mother figure

Hey everyone, I am new here and seeking support.

I lost my mother 10 years ago. I was 12 and never had a mother figure step into my life. For most this time my father acted as both parents but I didn't get that motherly love I yearned for. And this last November I lost him. :( I would love to hear from anyone in a similar situation. Thanks.

Hey SilverDuck....I lost both my parents before I was 8, so I can certainly relate. I grew up not feeling loved by anyone. Things do get better, though. I find hope in striving to be the mother to my own child that I wish I could have had.

I was taken away from my abusive, schizophrenic mother at 7, put into fostercare, shuffled around, and adopted. But my adopted mother is in denial about my life and things in her own life, and is emotionally and physically absent. I have had no constant, healthy mother figure, but I too aim to be the mother my kids deserve--that I never had and will never have.

I lost my mom when I was very young too, so needless to say, I can feel for you. Now I am alone, as I have now lost my entire family. Here are "mommy arms" to hug and comfort you. I am in Africa but nobody is too far away these days. I have bundles of love, yours for the taking.

Dear SilverDuck,

I became motherless very young (a too long & complicated story) but was determined to be the kind of mother I wished I'd had... I understand how desperately we need our mothers, especially as girls/women. I would be honored to have you for a friend.

    I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
