After a five year battle - and on the eve of the National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day - California has joined the states recognizing stillbirth. Governor Schwarzenegger signed the bill that will permit the issuance of Certificates of Still Birth for both past and future losses. Major credit for passage goes to MISS Foundation members in California who worked tirelessly to overcome great obstacles. MISS founder Joanne Cacciatore herself was honored here in Arizona last week as one of nine recipients of the Hon Kachina award that is given out annually to recognize outstanding men and women who serve the community. Here at NSS we are expecially proud of Joanne and her hurculean efforts and have chosen to share her acceptance speach with all of you.
