Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

It was recently suggested to me by a new neurologist that Propofol, which is basically an anesthetic that knocks a person out for about an hour or so, may work to get me some relief from my ongoing intractable migraine and Chronic daily headaches. Obviously this is meant to be used in an ER setting as it has to be administered through I.V. I also have been diagnosed with transformed migraine which means that I have some form of a migraine all the freaking time. So this stuff (Propofol) apparently while it knocks you out it can do a good job at taking care of an intractable migraine. I unfortunately have come to a scary point in this journey that the only treatment that gives me any relief, when I finally can't take the pain anymore is demerol. You all know how hard it can be to be believed in an ER. I can't take triptans all the time and if I max out on the dosage of those I have to go in for treatment after so many days of a 7-9/10 migraine. As many of you know the narcotic treatments can be effective but it has to be done right, not too much and not too little and sometimes does not last. Sooooo, I was wondering has anybody had this treatment before? Does it work? I have read some studies that suggest it can take away chronic daily headaches and chronic daily migraine headaches that have been going on forever for up to 30 days. It sounds too good to be true but if there is an alternative to the wonking doses of narcotics I am all for it.
P.S. I have tried almost all of the so called "preventative" medications such as topamax, gabapentin, Beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, botox the list goes on and on. I am so hoping that someone here knows first hand how or if this, Propofol, treatment has worked.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Breaking the headache cycle in 8 out of 18 patients is impressive. I'm certainly willing to try it.
