Migraine Headaches and the Americans with Disabilities Act
Are migraine headaches disabilities under the ADA?
The ADA does not contain a list of medical conditions that constitute disabilities. Instead, the ADA has a general definition of disability that each person must meet. A person has a disability if he/she has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, a record of such an impairment, or is regarded as having such an impairment. According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), having migraine headaches is an impairment. Therefore, people with migraine headaches who are substantially limited in a major life activity will have a disability under the ADA.

Which means that depending on your level if impairment, your job may be legally required to change things up for you, legally required NOT to fire you on the basis of absence because of migraine, and that you may be covered under the FMLA and disability insurance that you've paid into with your company.
This last one is important for a lot of us. Many of us have lost jobs or left jobs due to issues with chronic migraine, when we could've used the FMLA. FMLA requires your employer to keep maintaining your health insurance while you're on an unpaid leave of absence.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
So thanks again for the great information.
