My son had a horrible time in school after they decided to "mainstream" him. Before that he enjoyed going to restaraunts, movies and shopping, after the mainstreaming which lasted all through middle school/jr.high he became reclusive. Now he is out of school and we are trying to get him out of his room and out in the world. We even got him a new wheelchair because he has trouble keeping up with us so now we can push him. Has anyone else experienced this with their child? He also has cp. I am tired of sitting home all the time with him because he does't want to "go" anywhere and I cannot leave him home alone.

in our state they have home respite care. they come in and watch your son/daughter for nothing so that you can get away for a little while. if you are not rested it is hard to take care of someone that needs so much care. dont know about your state though. i have never called them as we take my daughter with us when we go anywhere, which isnt to often on a farm. love gram

I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
