Lymphedema Support Group
Lymphedema is a condition of localized fluid retention caused by a compromised lymphatic system. The lymphatic system (often referred to as the body's "second" circulatory system) collects and filters the interstitial fluid of the body. Lymphedema has been barely recognized as being a serious health problem; however, this is slowly changing due to education and awareness.
The doctor recommended that I see a lymphedema therapists. I have had five treatments so far. I am beginning to see some results. the treatments are painless and covered by insurance and medicare. the treatments consist of massages and tight wraps on the legs and changed at least every other day. the best care is reading all you can find on the web and educating yourself about edema and lymphedema and the exercises you can do on your own. ( self therapy)
good luck---jorjie.
