Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. It is now one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the U.S. Lyme disease is caused by infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is primarily transmitted to humans as well as dogs, horses and other domesticated animals by the bite of infected ticks.
From what I understand, if arthritis or other symptoms are from Lyme disease, they should be eradicated with proper treatment.
What meds are you taking?
My understanding is that the damage is permanent, but I am not giving up hope or will never stop looking for what will heal me completely!
that i got 17 years ago.I have
had lyme 5 times. This time was
not very good.Had it for about
a year before they found it.
They tell me it,s for life.
Stiff neck can also be caused by the co-infection Babesiosis. This is what caused my stiff neck.
After sucessfully treating Babesiosis, my neck is better.
I am lucky and only have arthritis in one leg. I recently went to a neurologist who is sending me for physical therapy.
She believes the pain will go away after 4 weeks of therapy but I will have to exercise for the rest of my life to keep it away and from getting any worse.
I don't know if this helps are not but wanted to let you know what my doctor said.
I was diagnosed with Lyme last summer and took 100 MG of Doxy for three weeks. So far I am feeling excellent except for the arthrtis.
Take care and I will pray you get better soon.
years now.Do not know if it

I have terrible arthritis (all of my docs, including Rheumatologist) call it "Lyme Arthritis". I've taken everything known to science to eradicate it, but with no luck. I'm resigned to the fact that I have to live with this disease. HOWEVER, Lyme does not define who I AM. I just happen to have to deal with it.
I'm scheduled for a THR (total hip replacement) on Sept. 11 because of the Lyme. If anyone else has had a joint replacement of any kind, I'd love to hear from you!
By the way, someone mentioned taking Relafen. That's an anti-inflammatory and I used it for about a year until it lost its efficacy for me. Now I'm on Meloxicam and it's helping a great deal more than Relafen did. JMHO.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
lol, God Bless,
