Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

Ok so this is the first cold season i'm going to be going through since being diagnosed... i've always had one severe cold a year and i usually end up losing my voice for 24 hours. Well i'm on day 3 of no voice my chest feels like its full of rice pudding forget about water and my sinuses are so congested i feel like my head is going to explode. Top that with the fact that i'm on so many meds i'm afraid to take Anything for my cold without talking to my Dr and we're talking a really bad day. How do those of you who have been dealing with this for a while deal with these "common colds", if i'm sick for much longer i'm going to lose what little is left of my mind... lol.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
sorry to hear you're not feeling well, if it's just viral, i usually take lempsip it works a treat and my doc is always fine with me taking it, u just have to stick it out, remember our bodies are sicker than the general population so give it some time, and rest, if it's bacterial, you should see your doc, he might give u antibiotics, that's what i get when it becomes bacterial.if you have any questions please feel free to contact me, take care hope u feel betterx
You may need to be on anti-biotics. If it started out as viral, it can turn into a bacterial infection in your lungs and sinus's. I only say this because almost EVERY TIME I get a cold, it turns into a sinus/bronchitis infection and I need prednisone and anti-biotics. DO NOT take echinacea or goldenseal products and if you dont get better within the next day, go to the dr. I use to suffer for weeks before i finally went to the dr. Now, after a week of being sick, I go see my dr.
Also, if you feel a cold coming on, I have a wonderful SAFE and natural remedy that I will start the moment I start to feel sick and it has kept me from needing anti-biotics if I start it right away. Here it is.You take it 2-3 times a day
1 capsule garlic oil
1 grapefruit seed extract tablet
1-2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar with the MOTHER (it can also be made into a drink)
Tablespoon or RAW honey
And, just so you know, I get sick all the time from the plaq. supressing my immune system. It really stinks.
Feel better

I can't even remember the last time I had a cold since I was diagnosed with Lupus. I'm thinking all those blood cells get together and attack my cold ahead of time. Plus, I get a flu shot every year. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
If unsure as to what to take with all you are already taking ... call your doctor to be sure. Just make sure you don't let the chest congestion go too far.
I'm keeping you in my good thoughts.
peace and love ... Kyle Anne
I'm a big believer in the flu shot and my Internist has recommended I take it every year (and that was about 15 yrs ago). Even if I do get sick, the symptoms are not so bad.
However, this seems a little late for you. For sinus issues I like to recommend a Netti pot a.k.a. saline (salt) sinus rinse. This is a natural way of healing your sinuses and has changed my life. I also like to make a really nice garlic/cabbage soup. Also, sleep sleep sleep! If I can contain myself to bed for a day or two that helps my recovery speed up by a week.
There are some super nasty bugs out there this year so if you do feel like your symptoms are complicating, see your physician and have him prescribe the right treatment for you. I personally like to take an expectorant and get the "gooo" out.
Get well soon! :)
So I would say..try to see how much Vit D youre getting from your vitamins.
