Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

Can anyone describe their personal problems and symptoms they experience? Not just the textbook ones. I find tons of websites explaining the most common stuff but only found one that went really in depth about problems. If anyone can tell me all the little wierd things or big ones too i'd really appreciate it.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
A list of symptoms will be VERY long....I'll start by telling you that one day I was working full time & the next I couldn't walk.....It started with mild tendonitis issues.....muscle weakness.....fatigue.....fevers.....chills.....headaches.....sore all over body aches.....transient muscle pain & spasms.....difficulty swallowing.....swelling of hands & feet.....CNS involvement.....& to this day I have transient phantom issues that plague my body whenever the hell they feel like it.....it is absolutely mind boggling & frustrating & I get sooooo moody sometimes that I scare myself........
I get lots of different symptoms, that I have been told are all Lupus related ( newly diagnosed in December 2007) Anyway the list if as follows: Massive hair loss leaving small patches, very sore hands and wrists that swell frequently and the slightest bump flares them up terribly for weeks, shocking headaches bordering on migraines, ringing in the ears, depression, lately I have been getting regular fevers, and even more tired then before. I can relate to the moodiness that BrandonGirl was talking about. One minute I;m happy and laughing, then next I feel like crying....freaks me out at times!! lol
- Extreme fatigue (I sleep at least 10+ hrs
nightly) and still feel exhausted
- Achy joints & muscles
- My wrists will feel like there's a pinch in
them and I won't have full mobility
- Headaches
- Nausea
- TMJ problems
- Raynaud's: the white & purple numb
fingers, toes,
and bottoms of my feet
- Inability to concentrate & focus
- Daily headaches
- Difficulty swallowing
- IC issues (frequent need to pee)
- If I over do it and stay out too late or go to
a party or concert, I pay for it the next day
- Livedo Reticularis (part of anti-
phospholipid syndrome)
- Itchy, red, and burning finger pads and
bottom of feet
Ha! There's probably more but these are just my current complaints!
-always tired not matter how much i sleep i need more.
-extreame pain in knee joints, hips, base of back, fingers and wraists.
-daily headaches boarding on migraines
-i suffer from depression
-shivers (im always cold no matter what which makes me shiver)
-(dont know what its called) but my body wont do what i want it to do ie hands and fingers
-im always dropping things
-Nausea
the list probably goes on but i cant remember them all
I cannot tolerate any sun or florescent lights. I get really weak and have passed out. I even had to buy a computer with led lights instead of florescent
I have no energy and I get terrible brain fog. I can't concentrate. I don't have enough energy even to keep my own house clean. My joints pain, the back of my hands, my neck. I love to knit but can't do it for very long and sometimes not at all. I drop things also. I get very depressed and feel very useless. I could go on forever. I can't sleep at night even though I am so tired. The pain is worse at night. I try to exercise but it is so hard. My arms and legs feel so heavy.
I have developed high blood pressure.
The last couple of days I feel really weird almost like I'm full of electricity or something but I'm really weak. Has anyone else ever had this weird feeling. It's kind of scary. My doctors don't seem to tell me anything. I don't think they know!
Thank God we have each other to talk to.
