Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

Just thought I would say hi to everyone.
I had my first experience with 'unexplainable' severe chest wall and lung inflammation 6-7 years ago. The most recent case is right now, for nearly the past 3 months. A visit to the ER, chest x-rays, blood tests and an EKG later, my doctor has diagnosed systemic lupus. (ANA,CRP, and sed rate were elevated in a verrrry suspicious manner)
I also have fibromyalgia, RLS, and chronic dry eye syndrome.
I'm now trying toradol (which is a very low anti-inflammatory/pain killer). I'm highly allergic to high level NSAIDs so this makes it very difficult to find something I can use.
Thought I'd say hello and see if anyone has any advice for me or a similar experience.

I am 3 years into this diagnosis but know I have had it for 30yrs. The rib pain is awful at times. Getting enough rest is an issue, but if you can do it, rest really helps.

Hi I am new also, nice to meet you, did they say why you were having the chest pain? I was just diagnosed with a Pulmonary Emboli in each lung (blood clots) then while in the hospital they found a brain aneursym. I found by researching on the internet that it can be caused by years of inflammatory disease. I am on blood thinners so now I can't take any anti-inflammatory drugs, but I liked Mobic the best. Anyway I hope you don't smoke, stay away from that and good luck!

hi I am new also and I have alot of the same-I too have been to the er for chest pain-turns out people with lupus also get pleurisy very easily-inflammation of the lining of the lungs. Also chostochondritis or inflammation of the rib spaces between the lungs making it very difficult to breathe and my doctor gave me lidoderm patches to put on the ribs that were affected the most and Ibuprofen 800-but you can't use that huh what about ultram it has kept me working for years now and helps with all kinds of pain. hope this helps, amy

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
