My 12 year old daughter has been diagnosed with subacute cutaneous lupus and has experienced a tremendous amount of hair loss in the last few months. I'd say she's lost at least two-thirds of her hair. Thankfully, it's starting to grow back in now, so she's got short stubby hairs along with her "old' hair. She used to have long hair that reached the middle of her back. Now I keep it cut at shoulder length so that the wispiness (is that a word???) is not so noticeable. She's been on Plaquenil for four months. My question is this....for those of you who have experienced hair loss, are you ever able to grow your hair long again or does the hair always remain short and brittle? And once it did grow back it, did you ever experience hair loss again? How long was the span of time between hair loss episodes??? Thanks for any feedback!!!!
