Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

how do you go on day to day without giving up? right now i feel like this cant get any better

I know how you feel right now, but it will get better. you need to wait for the meds to start working and find your "happy" place. I know that sounds wierd but it really works, for me anyway. find that place inside you that no one and nothing can touch. dont view lupus as a desease that is gonna take you. view it as an adversary that just gave you a challange. that is what this is. the challange of your life. if you can beat this, everythign else is down hill.

When I was 15, my lupus got so bad that I spent the entire summer in the intensive care unit of the hospital. I became very depressed and was willing to give up. I wanted so badly to get out of there - it felt like my life was experiencing the Twilight Zone. Just hang in there and have hope - your attitude and how you face the challenges you meet in life will ultimately overcome whatever pain or situation you have. I've been there, and looking back - having hope was well worth it. Good luck with everything! My prayer goes out to you!

Your not alone, I've had lupus for 12yrs now and this is the worst year for me. Right now I feel like giving up, but I'm not it's called early stage of depression, because it's not easy coming to terms that you have this disease and how it impacts your normal lifestyle. I've been out of remission since Feb 07. and it's been down hill for me every since. I go through those stages were i too want to give up. But, I look for that safe haven that lornak spoke of and I begin to snap out of it. It affects you harder when your in a flare. Because you get tired of the pain. We are all here for you.....Belief

I know how you feel. I've had lupus for almost 12 years now and I have dealt with it pretty well until this year. Sometimes I feel hopeless and just pray for one whole week with no pain or sadness. It hasn't happened yet. I honestly don't know what to tell you to make you feel better. It's just talk and I can't tell you it will get better because I sometimes don't believe that it will - for any of us.

I can definitely relate to what you're feeling. When you're worn down and in pain, it definitely takes a toll on both your mind and your body. It is very important to find a treatment plan that alleviates your pain. I've found that when my pain is out of control, I just can't function and I get very depressed. Finding an effective pain management treatment plan has greatly improved my quality of life.

Dont give up. Things get difficult but remember these are obstacles in our lives we are suppose to face for a reason. You will get better. I have days where I think, I cant believe I have this disease. What happened to my normal life? what happened to being 23 and drinking and partying? well unfortunately, I cant do all that stuff as much. It frustrates me and when I have to explain to people what I have and why i cant drink! It sucks! But we all feel like that once in a while. Dont give up. Im sure you're strong. Just remember, you have supporters:)
