Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

Is anyone on disability?
My doctor doesn't want me working anymore. My symptoms are getting harder to control. It was taking more med's than I should have to take to keep me stable. The stress, the work was too much on my hands and body. I've started the process and I would like to know how it all works?
What about taxes?..etc.

Hi: Hopefully you have already called the social security office and or gone down to the local office and asked to apply for social security benefits. Once you apply, they should walk you through it. It is a long process, depending on your disability. You will need to fill out a very detailed application. Have the names of your doctors and hospitals ready. Another place you can go for help is your state's human services department(each state calls it something different) There you will find if you can qualify for help there while you wait for the decision from social security. You might qualify for food stamps, a cash payment, and a medical card, depending on your circumstances. If, after you have applied for social security and are turned down, you might consider retaining a lawyer to help you. The lawyer will charge you a percentage of your lump sum payment that social security may give you when you are finally approved. Good luck and God Bless in this. It is a difficult time I know to go from being able to do for yourself and support yourself to getting social security. . .

I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
