Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

Just the last couple days I experience difficulty breathing after I take my cellcept. Before it would just be when going up the stairs, I had to catch my breath.
Anyway, I'm on full dose of Cellcept since August and I'm wondering if it's possible to develop an allergic reaction even after I'd been taking it all this time?
Anyone out there who experience this problem?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
If you are having difficulty breathing, this may be a symptom of an allergic reaction to your meds or maybe something else. Cellcept contains phenylalanine, which is the main ingredient in aspartame. I had no idea that aspartame was in any medications, but found out the hard way when I started taking a certain meds for migraines!
It's an unfortunate side effect of having lupus, but one of the best ways to help control your symptoms is to be aware of everything you consume, even vitamins and other supplements. It's one of the prices we have to pay. Why we are chosen for this ordeal, who knows.
Anyway, I really didn't intend to preach, but rather to commiserate with you...I've been dealing with the pleurisy issue for a while; being out of breath from just walking to and from my car is not fun.
All you can do, and should do, is take care of yourself first. I hope you feel better, and know you are not alone! :)
