Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

Hey Y'all!!!
Well I kinda gotta dilemma.
You see, I've been offered a really good job. Great hours, Great location and even better pay. My problem is SSI finally wants me to see their doctors and start the evaluation process. My dilemma is I don't wanna give up a great employment opportunity, but on the other hand physically I need to be on SSI. What should I do? What would you do if you were in my stilettos?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Do you feel like you can work and do a good job?If so just think how nice and satifying that lupus has not got that yet.........Deb
Hugs, Niecy.
Congrats on the job offer! Do you know your "new" boss? I ask this because my boss is very understanding about my medical condition and is supportive, it makes a world of a difference! There are times that I just can't make it through the day and need to go home to rest (and takes my stronger pain meds), would your boss, or new job, allow for this? Is there any possibility for flex-time (being able to work from home)? According to the HYPPA medical laws, employers dont have the right to question your medical condition and need to make the necessary accomodations for you. Check with the Human Resources Department and/or the Division of Labor in your area. Personally, I am trying to work as long as I can, I am in a better frame of mind when I am busy. My best to you girlfriend, keep us posted on whaat you decide. xoxoxoLyn
