This community is for those who are in a gay marriage, and the unique challenges that may be had in a same-sex relationship. Find support and talk to others in a same-sex marriage, and get advice from the experiences of other members.
First of all I am a mother of 3 I have a son that is 13 and a middle son that is 9 also a little girl that is 6yrs old. I was married for 11yrs. and yes to a man if that what you wanna call him. I knew since I was small that I loved girls but I was raised a christian and to be lesbian was considered a sin. Anyways I came out about 5yrs ago and have move 2 states away from my ex he was very abusive to myself and my children. Then I had 2 other gfs before my current gf of 3yrs and they were both very abusive. But since I have been with my current gf and away from him the kids are doing great and so are we. My problem is that we told our families when we decided to move in together and that was 2yrs ago but it seems that they will never accept us and I currently work in the school system as an educator and the society here in kansas is not taking to us very well...
in the past my self and my 1st gf were beattin outside of a bar because we are gay and people dont like it. Therefore I am very apprehensive as to society..
So if there is anything any of you can tell me to help us please do...

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Unfortunatly the best thing I can offer you is my support and my hope that things will change, that we can make it change. And i have no doubt that you can be the change. My only suggestion is that there is safety in numbers. The LGBT community needs to support eachother, so I suggest talking to any other queers in the school system to see what can be done about the situation.
(p.s. I use Queer because I consider it a word that represents everyone who is not completly heterosexual)

I also used to work in the school system. I was not out during those 6 years. That was the time I was getting divorced and newly divorced. I live in NJ and know that the info would have made my life difficult.
I wish I had magic words to give the two of you that would solve your problem. I agree with someone else who posted that suggested to ban together with others in the community. I support you two with whatever you choose to do. It is a free country to live our truths, but unfortunately sometimes we have to be careful. Good Luck. Darlene
I didnt talk to my family for 2 1/2 years after me and my wife met. It was a terrible time but eventually they have come around and now they cant imagine what my life would be like without her in it. S
So hang in there...things will get better with time...i know that doesnt help things now though...
