I have had pain for the last 3 months on the right side/flank area that radiates to back. I also showed evidence of microscopic blood in my urine.
With Nausea and vomiting and constant pain, the doctors were suspecting this to be gastric, but all my tests have come back negative, CAT scan, ultrasounds, xrays, ivp.
Last week, my doctor decided to check out my kidney and found i had a kink in my ureter, so referred me to a urologist. The urologist did a cystoscopy w/retrograde pyelogram and decided to put a temporary stent in to see if it helped.
My nausea subsided but the pain has continued. I had the urologist pull the stent this morning as 4 days of that discomfort was enough for me.
He said he doesn't think this is kidney related because the pain is still here. I am just curious if anyone else has been through this or something similar.
I am so frustrated and tired of feeling this pain.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I feel so sorry for you and believe me when i say i can empethies with you regarding this pain you are experiencing, i have for the last 10 years been in and out of hospital for kidney related illness. I first went into hospital with the pain you are describing and i was informed that i had renal collic to me i felt stupid as at the time i heard collic and thought oh my god i came to casualty with bloody wind lol but i was told that it was the posh term for kidney stones. After a 2 week stay in hospital i went home more comfortable and began to live around the pain and it dropped to a managable 3/10 rating but as the 6 month mark approached BAM it was back with avengance this time in both kidneys i was ill , i was passing visable blood in my urine i was vomiting constantly and had cold sweats the lot , i was re admitted and again the same procedures and tests where ordered this was re-accuring for me throughout the 8 years and then things got worse, i dont drink alcohol well at the time i was a sociable drinker like b'days, christmas and the like, well this time i thought i need to live like men my age are living i need to show my wife and children that this cant beat me and i am going to party and parrty hard and i did, well suffice to say early hours that morning i was rudely awoken with the droning pain in my kidney area the escalating contractual pains you get to the groin area, vomiting sweats temperature and really lathargic feel i wasnt well i was admitted to hospital and was in there for 6 weeks i was wired to alkinds of machines and drips and i was giving blood left right and centre, i was getting that much morphine injections in my thighs that after 1 week of needles my legs where as dead as they could be and funny enough i have never been the same since mobility wise i mean, well that was when i was told i have a kidney disease that is called nephrocalsinosis and severe chronic renal chollic i need to take 120mg of morphine also 80/100 mls of ora morph just to get by eachday.
