Has anyone landed in the hospital due to their IBS? My symptoms can be so brutally painful, bringing me to my knees, literally...and the pain spikes my BP to a dangerously high reading. The abdominal distention, during an attack, distorts the appearance of my stomach to such an extent that I am often suspected of having a bowel obstruction. An attack of pain toys with me on/off for a few days, then BLAMMO, it grabs ahold of me so tight and won't let go for about 4-7 days, then it disappears without warning, just as it came on. It seems to have its own cycle of pain time. I can blow up like a balloon, which is alarming to see & no clothes fit, yet my weight remains the same...it's baffling. My local ER knows me well, unfortunately...and all they can do is manage my pain, then release me. Does anyone else suffer from such extreme pain bouts with their IBS???
