Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.

Hi Everyone. I'm new to the "IBS" group. I have been dealing with alot of "tummy issues" (now realizing that it's IBS, AGAIN) ever since I had surgery and was taking alot of narcotic pain meds. I had back surgery and had been layed up in bed for 3 months.
Now it is almost 4 months since my back surgery and I am still dealing with HORRIBLE Constipation. My little sister jokes about me being "an old lady who can't poo!" My doctor told me to take Marilax everyday. It really did not help. I take colace and my diet is super high in fiber. I still have not found the right fit for me.
My gastro doc originally told me that I did alot of damage to my body by taking so many pain meds (It was take the meds or cry in pain...still cried with the meds) and that it could take more than a year for my body to get back to "normal" but my stomach has never ever been normal. I know where every bathroom is in a 30 mile radius to my house!!
Anyway.....I have done alot of reading on the boards and I am going to try Aloe vera juice.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
Thanks so much and I hope everyone has a pain free tummy weekend!!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
You can find it in the vitamin isle at most stores.
It does wonders for constipation!
I usually have the D form of ibs but occasionally have C and this is what I use to get things moving again.
