Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.
From what I read, IBS is the large intestinal distress that we experience, or lower GI problem and GERD (heartburn and indigestion) is to do with lower esophageal sphrincter that doesn't close properly,in the upper GI tract.
They are 2 separate problems but all of the GI tract. Lucky us, huh? :-(
Digestive problems also run in my family.
