has anyone noticed how smoking affects their ibs, either way.!!! ive smoked on and off for 15 years and have finally quit for good (its been 6 weeks) as im determined not to start again. ive got to stay stopped to make sure my husband stays stopped too as im worried about him.(if i give in so will he and i desperately want him to stop) . however i noticed this time that my stopping smoking has had a huge effect on my ibs. since ive been stopped i have had a lot more constipation!!!! i didnt realise how much having a cigarette actually affected my bowel. i caved in early on when stopping smoking and had a sneaky cigarette and as soon as i had it i needed to go to the loo immediately!!! so nicotine defo affects how your bowels react.!! just thought id pass this on and see what everyone else thinks. i read onthe internet that nicotine patches can be used to help some bowel disorders? dont know if this is true!
