Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.
I'm sure you have heard of the saying 'it was a gut feeling, or gut response'.
I think it's related as my IBS started at the same time as my anxiety attacks.
Remember tho' that it's just a theory as they can't yet work out whay causes it or how to effectively treat it...IBS sucks!
It hasn't ruined my life just yet...but the anxiety is really pi**ing me off.
IBS just annoys me that I have to plan every journey around public toilets, which here in the UK are not the most healthy of places to be.
I even sent off for a key service that do in the UK. Basicaly, we have laods of public loos for the disabled people. They are a lot cleaner and private and not used very often, but they are all locked be default to stop drug users and pervs using them.
You just write to them, saying you have a disabilty and send 3 and they send you this big key that opens every disabled public loo in the whole of the UK.
I resent it
If you have IBS-D ('the squirts'), I swear by Imodium instants. They let me live a fairly 'normal' life. Just taking 2 seem to last for 2-3 days, but it's a fine balance between being on the loo 10 times a day to being clogged up for a couple of days. It's a skill learning how much to take and when....but at least i'm learning a new skill out of all this...lol
