Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.

for some odd reason-i will go to sleep fine. anywhere from 4 hours and on,i'm up to the bathroom alot! like this a.m. it started at around 3 or 4 am. until i finally got out of bed,i had urinated 4-5 times-in like 1-2 hour span.....i had asked my urologist and he just shrugged! i get it if some food/drink irritates my bladder. but i think it would do it shortly after ingesting it-not hours and hour after....thanks!

IC flare ups can happen at anytime for many reasons. I know what you mean about having to get up all night, I drink water all day and not when I am trying to sleep but I have to get up all night and it's not like nothing comes out. It may be that because are bladders are so small and scared that when we we don't completely empty our bladder so we will keep going even in the middle of the night. Hope thaT made sense. Janice

it takes awhile for your system to digest stuff, even liquids... i know drinking lots of water is needed, but try to watch how much you intake about an hour b4 bed and see if that helps

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
