Ladies, need some info. Just met with the urologist yesterday and the news was as I suspected. DH has low sperm ct (400,000) and there is NO treatment. We knew this and have been preparing for IVF w/ICSI. However, the UR mentioned that since his sperm count is sooo low, we should provide samples weeks prior to the ER so we have enough motile sperm for fertilizing as many follies as I can produce. These samples will be frozen. So, who has done this, and how many samples did you provide prior to the ER? Also what was your DH's count? In addition, I asked that if this theory of freezing multiple samples works for IVF wouldn't the same apply for an IUI? Of course my poor DH would have to provide a year's worth of samples to get to 20mil...hahaha!!

If you're doing ICSI, then they'd only need 1 sperm per egg. We were just asked to provide 1 frozen sample, in case something would prevent my DH from being there to provide a fresh sample on the day of ER. My DH had even less sperm than yours (200,000) and only needed 1 sample. Unless he also has some serious issues with morphology or motility, I guess I don't understand why they'd need more samples.

Motility was on the low side 44% normal i think is more then 50. So i think that is probably why. I would rather be safe then sorry. If I have 15-20 eggs, and only be able to retrive half of that in motile sperm. I don't care if DH has to give 10 prior samples! LOL!!

I suppose, it won't hurt him! LOL Actually we had motility issues too. Our #'s were so inconsistent! Each time he'd give a sample, his count and motility would be less; I think motility was 40% and went down to like 20!

Us too, his numbers are a lot less then this time last year. I feel under the gun to get the IVF done. Fearing that soon there will be ZERO!

My husband has a good count, but he has very little that move, less than 2%. We are doing IVF with ICSI also. So far we have only frozen 1 sample.

My fear was that my husband would reach zero also and I was told that is very rare that usually the numbers just stay low.

My DH had a low sperm count and really bad morphology. However, we were not asked to provide an earlier sample. My RE says he loves male factor because to him there is a solution - so good luck!

My husband has good counts and motility, but very poor morphology. We did ICSI and have just finished egg retrieval. 5 of the 7 eggs fertilized with ICSI, so unless later problems develop, it looks good so far! This is one of the problems with fertility for which there is a solution, so take heart!!

My doctor only required one sample as a back up just in case. They were able to use the fresh sample since I only had five eggs. We're now 5 1/2 weeks preggo with triplets. Baby blessings to you.

Oh, my husband had 15 in all that were good to go in the sample he gave to check. And I mean 1,2,3....14,15. Not 15 million, only the double digit 15. The others weren't motile and or not there.

My DH did state to our neighbor, I may not have many, and they may go in circles, but with the doc's help, "BAM! I'm good." The triplet thing has his ego up there..hehe. Baby blessings.

rachel-that's to funny. My DH had only 33 motile sperm out of the 400,000. So sounds like were in the same boat. I love hearing these stories it gives me so much hope. Thanks for all the responses

My hubby had low morphology (5%) but a high sperm count so I guess that is why we were never asked to provide some sperm ahead?
