he Law of Relativity is a tool to help you feel differently about the challenges you face. Perhaps there is a significant challenge you are facing right now.
Remember, from the Reference List we are reminded that nothing that happens to us is fundamentally good or bad, until we attach our own meaning to it. So, if you think something "bad" is happening to you, that's what it will be for you.
You might be thinking, "Are you kidding? There is no way that what is happening to me could be anything BUT bad." Well, I'm here to tell you that that isn't true. By the law of Polarity (which we'll review again soon), if something is horrific, then contained within that situation is the seed for something absolutely phenomenal.
All things, all experiences, are for our good... because we are here to grow... to reach our highest potential... and the trials we face are meant to polish our rough edges. We will look back on all of our experiences with gratitude, if we learn what we were meant to learn through them.
If we don't learn the lesson we were meant to learn, then we are destined to experience more of the same until we do.
How, then, do we see our circumstances diffferently? By thinking about how good we really have it. We must take a moment to ennumerate the things we have to be grateful for. We can think of others less fortunate and realize that we don't have it all that bad.
I'd like to share with you something that was forwarded to me once... now, I can't verify whether it is true or not. The intention is to get you thinking about being grateful for hardships, and this little essay did that for me:
The 'LITTLE' things
As you might know, the head of a company survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten.
Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time. One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.
One of them missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
One's car wouldn't start.
One went back to answer the telephone.
One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.
One couldn't get a taxi.
The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore ! to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.
Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment..
Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; God is at work watching over you.
May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose.
~~~~~~~~~~
One final reminder about this law:
Do not use the Law of Relativity against yourself. We think of having a better life, not to discourage us about where we are now. We think of the better life as a first step to achieving it, but we think of it with hope, anticipation, and gratitude that it is to be ours.
It is when we get down about our present circumstances that we use this law. We stop our negative pattern of thinking long enough to think about why we can be grateful instead. It may not be easy, but at the very least you can stop and say, "I am thankful that I'm no longer in junior high school...!" There's ALWAYS something to be grateful for.
Taking the time to shift gears and move into a grateful attitude puts you in a receptive mode. God can bless you when you are grateful. In time, you'll learn to be grateful for the challenge you face, even before you understand why you can be grateful for it. Have you any idea how quickly things can literally turn around for you when you can be grateful for a "bad" situation, merely by faith? It has the power to turn things in your favor within the day, instead of months or years!
May you be blessed to be grateful for your challenges and your failures, and may you experience the outpouring of blessings that are available to you when you do. Let these ideas change your heart. Don't take the time to feel the gratitude, only to get cranky again 30 minutes later because the "reward" didn't appear instantly. Let your heart change, and then be grateful and patient, knowing that all things are working for your good.
Until the next law....
Have a grateful day!
I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
