This will be our second IVF cycle. DH and I are going back and forth trying to decide how many embryo's we should transfer. Last time we had a three day transfer and transferred 2 embryo's. This time we at first thought 3 but I've been doing some research online. I'm reading that women 35 and older should transfer at least 3 and no more then 5. I turned 35 in August, now I think maybe we should transfer 4. I guess it depends on how many eggs fertilize and if any of the embryo's make it to a 5 day transfer. If we make it to a 5 day transfer I may just have 3 transferred.

hello,my husband and I recently received news that our chances of conceiving on our own are slim at most and the best option for us is to use an egg donor.I understand that this is the best choice but am currently struggling with coming to terms with the fact that with the donated egg there will be no genetic factors of mine and the loss of being able to get pregnant on my own.I wanted to know...

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
Good luck with what ever you decide! :-)
I did a three day transfer the first time and am guessing they will do that again this time.
Yes, having 3 or 4 transfered would increase your chances of success, but what if they all implant? Then you are in a terrible position of trying to figure out whether to do a selective reduction, or try to sustain a high-risk pregnancy--more risks for you, more risks for your babies. I know the temptation must be very great, but I would do more research about the possible risks involved with premature births related to IVF, as well as risks of miscarriage if you do a selective reduction before making that kind of decision.
I hope I haven't offended you, but I think you should hear all kinds of views/perspectives before you make this important decision.
Sophiah I'm not at all offended, I appreciate your input.
We still have a little over two weeks before of ER and ET, which will be the week of the 17th. Have a lot of praying and research to do before deciding.
Thanks again, :)
Its a tough decision but if youre prepared for 3; then go for it!
We thought of it this way...the worse that could happen is we would have multiple and have an instant family and not have to go through any of the crap anymore!!!
...you know, maybe get on the Today Show and have Ann Curry follow the lives of our multiples...the town would donate a house and a mini-van...we had it all planned out!!
