I would call now as some clinics make you wait. You can just tell him when you want to start and if that is possible. After my second failed IUI, the alternative RE said that IVF was really the smart choice and my DH and I had already come to that conclusion. It was the beginning of my cycle and I asked if I could start right away. He was not keen on that as he wanted us to think about that. I phoned the clinic a couple of days later and found out he had already written up all the prescriptions for us. The IVF nurse said we could start right away on BCP if we wanted. So we did. I was on a long protocol that lasted 6 weeks.

I would call now. I had to have several different tests prior to starting IVF (I had already been through six IUIs) that were based on my cycle. We decided in August to go through with IVF. I didn't start any meds until the end of October due to preliminary testing. Hope this helps!

I agree with Rachm and Charley26, call now to get them moving on it. The first step is having insurance approve it, but if they have all their ducks in a row, that could move quickly.
I was told it was about a two month process the first time we tried it.
Basically, we had to wait for approval, then not have unprotected sex from start of AF in month #1. Later that month we did lab work and injection class, they also place an order for meds with a fertility pharmacy.
On day one of AF the second month, I called them and they told me when to come in for CD21 labs (to show ovulation) I started meds the next day and it was three weeks from starting meds until RE. But it is different for each woman and each RE. Good Luck!!!

I remember they started me on BCP 10-3, Lupron 10-14, Stim meds 10-26, ER was 11-9 and ET on 11-14. First pregnancy test will be 11-23. So from the first pill to pregnancy test about 7 1/2 weeks....

Call ASAP! I called my RE 2-1/2 weeks ago and he said the soonest I could get IVF is the middle of January. I have to go on the pill first to re-regulate my period and then start in on the shots mid-December. Since all you will be doing before Jan. 1 is, potentially, injections, you should be (no promises here!)OK with insurance.

Call now for an appt, you can always cancel it if you need too. The process takes some time so the sooner you can get in the sooner you can start things.
