After 1 miscarraige and 4 subsequent (and failed) IUI attempts, I am about to start in with the IVF cycle.
I have a very anxious and high-strong personality which, I truly believe, is the cause of my infertility.
I am extremely nervous about IVF- the drugs, shots, potential disappointment, etc.
How do I relax about all of this? I am not good at taking things one day at a time and I am worried that my A+ personality will cause IVF to be unsuccessful.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Oh yeah- focusing on my job!
Good luck!
I see a massage therapist for other reasons, but find it helps me center myself. I also got guided meditation cd's. There are several that are only 10 mins long. But even 10 mins helps make a difference. If one day at a time is too much then do one hour or even one minure at a time. Many days I do one breath at a time. That is all we really have any ways.
It is easy and normal for us to think about the "what ifs" especially since we are let down every time AF shows up.
I agree that distraction is also a good thing. My last IVF cycle went by quick b/c I had so much going on. This time, I do not want to be as busy b/c then I may be stressed, but I have put other things in place to help relax my mind.
The meds can make it harder to stay calm, or at least that is how I feel. But you will get through it with all of us here to support you.
Did any of that make sense?
Take care.
I have also been doing acupuncture 1x week and made a pact with my dh to be positive and to stop trying to control this. Also I find making lists and organizing my meds and keeping calendars calms me down significantly. If I can't control IVF and my body then by-gum I will control everything else - ha! Oh and stay busy. Good luck! It goes faster than you think it will.
Good luck & if you ever need to talk I'm here.
What I did to relax was acupunture. It is the best thing I did for my self and I don't know if I should say that but get closer to God and have faith in him. It really helps. God doesn't want bad for us so it will happen for you one day when you least expect it.
Godd luck u sweetie
