Have any one you who are going through IVF, or in an early pregnancy decided or heard if you should or should not take a flu shot? My DH's work is offering flu shots to staff and their spouses. Didn't know if anyone had thought about getting one or not or if anyone knew the answer.

Hi, i am in my 2ww and was told yesterday by my nurse not to have the flu jab until after i found out if ivf was successful. Hope that helps.

My workplace offers them for free, but the date it is scheduled is right in the middle of my IVF. I didn't want to do it then - it would make me too nervous (I know it's safe much later in pregnancy, but I worried about it being so early on.) I decided to get one at my doc's office and just pay for it last week - well before my IVF cycle starts.

I had a flu shot once and got VERY sick. I have a low immune system, so it is worse for me. But, even if it wasn't I don't think I would get it when pregnant. It is basically putting a virus in you and there is no gaurantee it is the same strand that you will come in contact with.

The dr.'s actually reccommend you get them if you are pregnant, but I don't think you are supposed to get them if you are in the 1st trimester. I just got mine, but I'm in my 3rd trimester. I think it would be best to call and confirm w/ your dr. b/4 getting it done. Good luck!

I'm 5 weeks pregnant after a successful IVF and I'm not gettng one. I didn't ask anyone, just not getting it. I never get them actually. I haven't gotten one in like 10 years. I didn't get one when I was pregnant with my first baby either and I was fine.

My RE suggested just to get one before I got pregnant, not while we were trying or were pregnant. I would talk to your doc and make sure it is safe. I had mine yesterday and my arm still hurts!

If you decide to get one I would recommend getting it at the Dr. Office. I would not get the ones from you dh's work or anywhere due to preservatives. Usually at the office you can get the preservative free ones, which are better for you.

I just got one done on the 23rd and my RE's office told me it was fine as long as it was before my frozen embryo cycle started!!!

Last year before my miscarriage I was told your not suppose to get them until after your first trimester.

My RE said there's no reason not to get it, esp. if you're in a high risk group. My OB recommends it for all of her patients. I just got it last week at her office, and I'm 7 1/2 weeks pg.

I am not only going thru IVF but am a RN. We recommend all people in high risk groups (i.e. immunosuppressed, with chronic illnees, and preg) get the flu shot. The true flu, not gastrointestinal flu, can be fatal for these groups ~ so getting the flu shot is very important. Always confirm with your RE that it will not interfer with your cycle though.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
