My DH and I finally tried to make our first appt. with the fertility clinic. However, DH was told that they only deal with women. I.E. Doing the IVF, ICSI, AI, etc. They do not handle sperm retrieval or the freezing of. DH contacted his UR, only to be told that they do not harvest sperm at his office, and that he would need to find a UR that does.
ACK! Another setback. No matter what your circumstances, or how long you have been TTC, it always seems like a heck of a long time. Every roadblock just leads to more frustration. I was on the up-swing, now that I knew which path we were headed down. Now, I have to get out my mountain bike and cut across country. It just seems as though, there is never a straight path to the baby door.
DH has to schedule an appt. on the military base we are stationed at, get looked at in the Family Practice Clinic, get a Tri-Care referral(again) for the appropriate UR, schedule an appt. with the new UR, and then move on with the baby quest.
Ladies, it's never easy. I'm so glad that I found DS and all of you. Every gal needs a sounding board. Rehashing it a million times with your DH and family members gets old. Thanks for letting me vent.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
If I can find the link, I will forward to you, or if anyone else reads this and knows which one I am talking about, maybe they can post it. Good luck!!

I hope it all goes faster than you expect, and that you are on the babymaking trail soon.
When you look over the clinics website, they make it appear, that they treat female/male infertility. They even have a doctor on staff, that specializes in male/female infertility.
I'm new to this world of clinics and IVF procedures. DH and I were both under the false impression, that fertility clinics treated both the prospective mom and dad. We NEVER expected certain clinics to be one-sided.
Thanks to Lioness81, we have started to explore options with other clinics that are within a 100 mile radius. We have found one in Mobile, Alabama, that looks promising. However, we will not be able to go there for a preliminary appt., if our health ins doesn't cover that particular clinic.
We all know, that any fertility procedures, are out of this world expensive. DH and I are looking to get as much paid for by our ins provider, as possible. We know that any procedure will be paid out of our pockets. We are trying to save money, by having our ins provider pay for any tests and prelim visits. If they don't cover that clinic though, we are stuck in their "system", that only allows us to seek treatment where they choose. Really is unfair, that we are subjected to what an ins provider dictates. You can seek treatment here, but not here.
My OB never told us, that the clinic didn't cover both of us. He did state, that the clinic was a good one, and had a great reputation.
Onward and upward! I will not let this defeat me.
