I'm am starting my final cycle on clomid and IUI (after this I am pretty much done since I can't afford other interventions). This is my third round and my 9th month on clomid. I feel like I am just kidding myself. Even on 100mg clomid I get just one follicle, on this last cycle I started my period really early which makes me think my luteal phase isn't long enough, and my period is light-I've hear that means that your lining is getting depleted from clomid. My NP isn't concerned about any of it, but I get the feeling that she has given up hope too. Has anyone out there acctually been successful with IUI after this long? It seems like all the BFPs come from IVF. Just wondering if I should be hoping.

We only did 2 and they didn't work but our chances were low because of male factor. However I heard more than once that you shouldn't even be on it for more than 6 months? I got 1 follicle on 50mg and only 2 on 100mg so I didn't really respond all that great. You may be better off with injectibles? That of course if you don't have male factor...

I did 2 too, but I also was dealing with male factor. I agree with Nelle that you could try injectibles. Also, your RE should be able to tell you how your lining was doing. I could not take clomid as it did deplete my lining. Femera is an alternative. Good luck!

I got a BFP after my first month on Clomid. It ended in a m/c though. I'm on my 3rd cycle and I think I might be pregnant again. Good Luck!!

Do they test your progesterone? If your periods are really light, you may not have enough progesterone to make a nice fluffy lining. Don't know-but that can cause a short luteal phase, and be easilt fixed, too. Good luck!

I got a BFP on my 4th IUI. It ended in m/c, but on that IUI we added ovidrel and I did acupuncture twice a week for the full cycle and I truly believe that the acupuncture is what made it work.

I would ask the preg after infertility board..you may get some more answers.

Thanks ladies. I'm not sure about my progesterone levels, I don't think they've been tested. I am thinking I may try acupucture too. I also heard that yoga can help. I guess it couldn't hurt!

We did 4 and none of them worked. IVF was the answer for us. Good luck to you!

I got pregnant on our first IUI with femara (like clomid). Ended in M/c though. Good luck!

I had progesterone suppositories to take for two weeks following my IUIs - it helped extend my luteal phase, but it didn't result in pregnancy.

My fourth IUI worked! The first two were without clomid. The third one was done before my laparoscopy, with clomid. I believe the fourth one worked because the laparoscopy gave me a "clean slate" from the endometriosis. My husband also has male factor infertility--so the fact the my first IUI after surgery worked is very exciting! I am now 5 months pregnant and SO THANKFUL. Best baby wishes to you from me! Has your NP done any vaginal ultrasounds? Definitely get all your hormone levels checked also--& your husband's too. I agree with the others, that a different fertility med might work better for you--although clomid did the trick for me (I had two mature eggs on 50 mg).

One more thing--my RE offers many different kinds of IVF (I've heard some people call the less expensive ones "mini IVF") Some of them can cost as little as $2500. They use regular fertility meds & retrieve less eggs than regular IVF, but the success rate is still supposed to be double that of IUI. Maybe this would be an option for you. Good luck!

Oops. I just realized that if you knew that there was only one follicle, obviously you have had vaginal ultrasounds...sorry. I was just asking that because my first RE never did ANY ultrasounds. I'm so glad I switched!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
