I am starting an IVF cycle and have cut out caffine (all coffee, diet coke, etc) and alcohol. But I like to drink something warm b/c I am always cold. Is decaf tea OK?

deleted_user
I bet that is fine. I have been drinking diet coke and coffee. Is that bad?

Not sure - they told me to avoid caffine so I am doing my best. I know some decaf tea's and coffee's have a little caffine so I was curious. I would avoid coffee during the 2ww I think b/c it stimulates your muscles (uterus) and makes implantation harder - at least I think that is the theory. Good luck!

I'm never drinking coffe again.

I was told to avoid caffeine, carbonated beverages, and alcohol. I have been drinking decaf tea, I think (hope) it is ok. From what I have read on different sites Jennifer is right about caffeine making implantation harder.

rhodygrl - just switch to decaf or drink something else, I did not mean to scare you!

well, i have been drinking decaf diet coke but I have a cup of coffee everyday. shit. NO MORE! No one told me not to drink caffeine!!!! You would think after spending our life savings that someone would tell me to avoid caffeine.

you didn't scare me! Don't worry, it makes sense!

I am sure it is fine, a lot of decaf products have a little caffeine in them.

When I met with my high risk doctor, she said I may want to cut down my caffeine intake, but that one cup is okay if needed.

The main thing is that you keep it low, moderation is the key. Basically my nurse said to treat my body now as if I were already pregnant.

Krisi - I agree, my RE said he same thing - act pregnant until I tell you that you are not. Pretty good advice and it keeps me positive pretending I am pg!

Be careful with the DIET coke too since it contains aspartame. Check out sweetpoison.com. Also, many light yogurts contain this as well. Be careful!

I think that the jury is still out on how much caffeine is okay, but I think artificial sweetners are all bad all of the time! Of course I gave it all up at the beginning when we first started TTC, but gave up after 8 mos of so, especially since we won't be able to start with a specialist until after the first of the year. Now I drink it all!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
