I wanted some advice about PGS. We are undergong our first IVF within the next month or two. I've had questionably 3 miscarriages within the past 2 years; all early before 6 weeks. Our RE through PGS out there, but it is an additional costs.
Just wanted feed back from others who have been recommended for PGS.
Thanks

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
It is useful if you have a known chromosomal problem or if you have had a lot of miscarriages for presumed genetic causes. It costs about $5000 extra, and it's never covered by insurance. But, it will be able to tell good embryos from bad embryos. You do want to make sure you're getting the full 46 chromosome comparative genomic hybridization PGD (where they look at all the chromosomes), rather than the older FISH PGD, where they only look at about 5 chromosomes.
I did it, because I have a balanced chromosomal translocation (2 broken chromosomes with pieces swapped) which caused me to have 5 m/c. We had to do 3 IVFs in a row before we found a single normal embryo to transfer. It was very hard to continually go through IVFs and be told that we got nothing.
I chose to do it, because my m/c were happening at 10-12 weeks, so it was too hard on me physically and emotionally to keep seeing heartbeats and hoping; also because we knew that about 90% of my eggs would be bad. If my miscarriages were earlier, I might have just kept trying without PGD, knowing that if a good egg popped up, it would probably stick.
