Hey Ladies,, I know a young girl (17) who I have know her whole life we are so close she call's me her Aunt,, well she has a 5 mo. old Daughter who she is thinking about letting Joseph and I adopt YEAH,, but I dont know how we would do this,,We live in different states, Do you think we could do this through our lawyer or would we have to go through an agency? Any info would be awesome. Thanks Ladies love ya Nicole

I would think that you could go through lawyers since you know the mom and she knows you and has already chosen you to be the adoptive parents. The agency would help pair the two parties up, which has already happened. I think a lawyer that specializes in adoption would be able to assist you. Congratulations...........I hope it works out for you!!!

Wow! That's great!!! I agree wih Janlei, you probably can just go through adoptin lawyers and then the state where the daughter was born will amend her birth ceriicate to your last name!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!

It all depends on the adoption laws in your state. Your best bet is to speak with your lawyer. I would also post this question in the adoption forum. You might get moer info there. Good luck and congrats!

I agree with the others. From what I have read so far on domestic adoption it looks like you woudl need an agency to help you locate a birthmother. As you already have found one I think you would just need to consult with a lawyer and do the adoption independently. This is soo exciting!! I wish you the best! Keep us posted!

OK I JUST HAD A FRIEND DEAL WITH THIS . HIS BROTHER AND BROTHERS GIRLFRIEND HAD A BABY AND GOT PREGNANT 2 MONTHS AFTER HAVING THE BABY. WELL MY FRIEND CANNOT HAVE CHILDREN SO THE BROTHER WANTED HIM TO ADOPT THE BABY THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE. THEY COULD NOT AFFORD TWO CHILDREN SO CLOSE IN AGE. ANYWAY THEY WENT THROUGH LAWYERS AND HAD TO PAY A 1500 ADOPTION FEE AND THAT WAS IT . THEY DID NOT GO THROUGH ANY AGENCY. IF YOU TALK TO YOUR LAWYER THEY WILL LET YOU KNOW IN THAT STATE IF YOU HAVE TO BUT IF YOU DONT ITS ALOT CHEAPER AND ALL YOU HAVE IS LEGAL FEES PRETTY MUCH . CONGRATS HON. I THINK THAT IS SO WONDERFUL.

That is great. I agree with everyone else. Also look to see if your employer has an adoption benefit. Mine kicks in $10,000. Good luck

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
