After 1 miscarraige and 4 subsequent (and failed) IUI attempts, I am about to start in with the IVF cycle.
I have a very anxious and high-strong personality which, I truly believe, is the cause of my infertility.
I am extremely nervous about IVF- the drugs, shots, potential disappointment, etc.
How do I relax about all of this? I am not good at taking things one day at a time and I am worried that my A+ personality will cause IVF to be unsuccessful.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

I have been here before, a long long time ago and now I am back.Forgive me for not just saying what I want to say, even under a triple dose of antidepressants it is still raw and seeping and I am hesitant at revealing it as at least under the bandages around my heart I don,t have to look at how raw and wounded. My child was cleaved from my heart by his own actions. my child of ten, turning eleven...

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
Accupuncture really helps me relax. Massage is also another great option.

Then I was worried about the side effects and worried my high-stress, anxious personality would make them worse, but it has been a bit easier than I thought, which instantly helped me relax.
Each time you face a fear, conquer a moment, or move forward with a path you've chosen, it builds confidence and a certain comfort level.
I'm still very nervous about the retrieval and of course if I'm lucky enough to get pregnant, I know I'll be the type to stress out about losing the baby. My infertility specialist told me that stress is not usually the cause of miscarriage and/or infertility, just one of many factors, so if you look after yourself, try to spend time relaxing and doing things that calm your down or help you enjoy life, and pay attention to the meds/protocol you are on, I think you'll find you will be able to take it day by day...at least that has been my experience so far!
good luck and keep us posted.
I know other women who feel less stressed when they have more social time with friends/family.
I think most of us will tell you that we were at least nervous, if not totally scared about all of the shots. And I'm sure most of us will tell you that while it's not fun, it's not NEAR as bad as you think it will be.
I found some great videos of women mixing meds and giving themselves shots on "you tube." Made me feel better to see it done.
Just spoil yourself for the next several weeks! Good Luck!
I hope this helps and good luck!!!!!
I also got a few massages along the way that helped a lot. Just take it easy on yourself.
