Hysterectomy Support Group
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). Although there are conservative alternatives, hysterectomy is performed for uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic relaxation, heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, and cancer.

The other day I was at a department store looking at coats. This lady that worked there started talking to me, and we got to talking about my hysterectomy. As soon as I told her I'd had one, she said "Don't you want a husband?" I thought this was strange since there is no law saying you have to have a uterus in order to obtain a marriage license, but it did get me thinking. Has anyone had trouble finding men that are interested in them after having a hysterectomy? I know when I get older it wont be a big deal, but I'm sort of worried that this is going to hinder the dating process. What're ya'll's thoughts?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
The only issue there would be is if your potential spouse wanted to have children.. other than that, I don't really see why a man would be too concerned. Most are probably not that familiar with that part of a woman's anatomy! LOL
It sounds like the lady in the store does not know what she was talking about. You don't need your uterus to get a man. I am in your same situation and I feel that is a discussion once you know you are going to enter a relationship. Not having a uterus does not make you less of a woman. You still have the ability to orgasim and all the others things you did with your uterus. For me sex has improved as I was in so much pain before with all the fibroids on my uterus. You have to be careful with who you talk to about your surgery....I've noticed that older woman are more ashamed of this type of surgery. The younger generation feels like...hey it's a part of life....stay positive and the right peron will come along....if there is anything else I can help with or if you just want to chat feel free to drop a line. Take care of yourself.
