Hysterectomy Support Group
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). Although there are conservative alternatives, hysterectomy is performed for uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic relaxation, heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, and cancer.

I was diagnoised with fibroids and cysts on both ovaries. I have problem periods all the time..and am on meds to control them. I will be having a consult for treatment but until then, I am really tired all the time, I have short of breath, and I have periodic cramping. Is this normal for this kind of thing?

When I had cysts, I would have the cramping, and depending on how pain the pain was, I would be tired. No shortness of breath though.

Yes, the fibroid cysts causes heavier bleeding of the uturine tissue, heavier bleeding leads to anemia and loss of energy. I'm so glad I had mine removed on Jan. 15 I'm no longer sore and will never have a redhaired visitor every month that refuses to leave.
