Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. I have had a thyroid problem for at least 7 years, I think maybe longer just was not diagnosed because I didn't go to doctor. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia over a year ago. I had a falling out with several doctors and got frustrated and vowed to do away with them all, so I stopped medicines. I went to local emergency room when I could barely move and felt as though I had cinder blocks on feet when I tried to walk. My own fault, I now know...but I am on a higher dose of thyroid medicine than people with out a thyroid gland at all! Anyone know anything about this? I need to get a regiment for both problems and feel as though I am going nuts with all of it. I have two beautiful little girls that need me, my husband has got to be tired of hearing about my ailments, I've gained 70 lbs in three years, and I'm still young! Anyone have any advice....

I think you need to find an endo as quickly as possible. By not being seen regularly and monitored you could be setting yourself up for a heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, coma, or even death. Please see a doctor!

Your TSH levels are WAY TOO HIGH! It is a wonder you can move at all. Serious low thyroid levels can cause coma and death! Please see an endocrinologist fast!! Thyroid replacement hormone (synthroid, Levothyroxin) is not a medicine it is an essential component of your body's system! If your TSH is that high then your thyroid hormone levels are that LOW! I can't believe that any doctor that sees a test result like that would dare not treat you. Levothyroxin is cheap and very effective. Please, please, please get the help you need! There is no need for you to suffer when treatment can be so effective!

The highest my TSH level has ever been was 60.**. I felt horrible. I don't have a thyroid. I also have hypoparathyroidism. The worse thing someone with thyroid problems can do, in my opinion, is to try to self medicate. We need a GOOD Endocrinologist to get us back on tract.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
