Hello everyone,
I am very happy to have found this site, I am a 46 year old male and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 4 years ago and have been on synthroid since. I don't take comfort in others misery, but is is nice to know that I am not alone. Ever since I was diagnosed and started taking synthroid, I have felt no better, but no worse either. The ironic thing about it is I quit smoking about 6 months before my symptoms got very noticeable, and felt worse than I ever have in my life. As I am typing this my eyes are very dry and burning, which seems to be a major complaint with this illness. I hope to show up here often and if I can be of any help to anyone, I will be glad to do what I can, and if anyone has any advice for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I am new to hypothyroidism and they just upped my medication. I get so tired so easy and the fact that I have diabetes does not help either...So welcome
it feels like i havent had a healthy day from giving up.
not that i ever want to go back to smoking but i know what you mean.
maybe there are metals such as mercury in the thyroid (mercury inhibits iodine uptake).....maybe you are under long-term stress and have high amounts of cortisol (cortisol inhibits the conversion of T3 (inactive form) to T4 (the active form). interestingly synthroid is synthetic T3.
A few thoughts....please get in touch for further info about natural methods and treating underlying causes.
