Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) Support Group
The term hypoglycemia literally means "low blood sugar." Hypoglycemia can produce a variety of symptoms and effects but the principal problems arise from an inadequate supply of glucose as fuel to the brain, resulting in impairment of function. Derangements of function can range from vaguely "feeling bad" to coma and in the worst case, can be fatal.

Okay Y'all...I am confused here. By orders of my doctor I needed a glucose meter. I have never tested my blood glucose before. My symptoms this last year have been huge and awful. If I didn't know better I would have guessed that my numbers would be quite low at times. Granted....I have drastically changed my diet and started taking supplements a week ago. The lowest my levels have been read 81. THat's right when I get up. About 2 or so hours after dinner it reads around 91. Aren't these numbers normal? They sure don't match how I feel let me tell you. I did a control test on the meter and it says it's accurate. ANy thoughts out there?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Did your doctor give you a four hour glucose test to find out you were Hypoglycemic? Or is the doctor relying on the meter? Personally I didn't think the meter worked out to well. I was givin the 4 hour test and my level was 44 and I felt a little sleepy but that was it ( makes me wonder what it's at when I'm really feeling bad), so my doctor gave me a meter to check my levels and to be quite honest they read in the low 70's when I'd feel pretty bad. So my doctor and I just tossed that aside since I knew when it was dropping. Why does your doctor insist you have one?
My only thought is that they don't go down. lol. Just up for diabetics.
Now, the tests that the doctor took I am not sure. She ran a lot of labs on me...testing for nutritional deficiencies and such. And she said the one thing that was consistantly showing was my insulin levels. So, she said I am hypoglycemic. I was overwhelmed with the info I was getting that day that I did not think to ask what the test was and the numbers and such. I will next time I go in though.
Ugh...I just want to start consistanly start feeling better...sick of the dizzies and vertigo crap!!! A year is enough already....
