I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism yesterday by my endocrinologist, and she recommended treatment of either Methimazole or Propylthiouracil. Some of the symptoms I am having (sweating, intolerance to heat, fatigue, insomia) are severe, and I would like a medication that is going to treat these symptoms as quickly as possible. However, I am concerned about possible side effects. Can anyone give me advice on which medication works best? Just so you know, I am finished having children, so pregnancy is not a possibility. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
